The Waaaaaaait is the Hardest Part
Well as I promised, here's a new holiday treat for you that I found on Y outube:
Hahahaha. How many parents have experienced a similar nightmare with an equally hard to assemble gift or toy?! Here's a new MAD TV Christmas parody that I thought was pretty well done:
Well Merry Christmas b-movie fans. Hope you get your X-mas shopping done soon!

7 Days until Christmas... here's some stress reduction!
I'm gonna try and post other X-mas funnies for the next six days. And if you're not done shopping yet, like me, then get going! I only have to buy some stuff for my girlfriend and two or three friends, and I hope to get that done tomorrow. So get your butts in gear 'cause Jesus' symbolic birthday is around the corner. I know most of your holiday cheer is probably depleted, but just hang in there another week, then you can enjoy some (hopefully) cool gifts! At the very least, just hold on until New Years Eve. That's one of the few nights in our lives where it is OK to get sloshed! ;-)

Fashion Trends in Jewely: the Pearl Connection
Pictured is a pair of Amethyst, Fresh Water Pearls & MOP Earrings
I love working with healing crystals and find that making them into beautiful jewelry gives people an opportunity to not only benefit from the crystal's healing energies, but also from the beauty of the artisan-crafted piece itself.
Lately I’ve been making several necklaces and bracelets featuring freshwater pearls, as well as incorporating pearls into a variety of earrings.
I thought it was just a fluke on my part (well, I was inspired by a local jewelry store advertising a variety of pearl earrings and necklaces.) What I discovered, though, is that long, swinging pearl earrings are the number one fashion choice.
Yep, sensuous, shoulder-sweeping pearl earrings are being promoted as The Way to be glamorous and in on the latest fashion trends.
I’ve been taking my designs one step more, using MOP teeth (mother-of-pearl) mixed in necklaces and earrings. The one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces are absolutely incredible. Even similar looking pear dangle earrings differ because each pearl, as a unique natural product, has its own character.
Right now I have some of the earrings up on EBAY, either in my EBAY storefront or at auction. More of them are here at the shop, and I hope to get some listed in my webstore as well.
Check out all the gemstone earrings, and wire wrapped pendants, as well.
Amethyst
A “Stone of spirituality and contentment.” Clears the aura. Brings stability, strength & peace. Used for meditation. Opens and activates the Crown Chakra. Protects against psychic attacks. Encourages and supports sobriety. Used to treat insomnia and clear pain from headaches and other physical problems.
Pearl
Signifies faith, charity & innocence. Enhances personal integrity. Focuses one’s attention. Allows for a clean channel for receiving spiritual guidance. Brings truth to situations & loyalty to causes.
Mother of
Abalone is a Mollusk (shelled fish) in the Gastropod class. Gastropods also include snails and whelks. Abalone is prized for its meat as well as its beautiful shell. The pretty part of the shell in on the inside, where nacre (mother of pearl) of a variety of colors can be seen. The word "Abalone" comes from the Spanish word aulone, which is the name of the animal. The shell is also called Paua Shell.
Since Mollusks often have to leave their shells to find larger ones when they grow, all shells are considered to bring boundless growth in life and thought.
The Abalone that you often see in jewelry is a brilliant blue or purple.
It is sometimes known as a "Sea Opal" due to the changing opalescent hues.

Patience. Perserverance. Perception. Silver has long been thought to destroy evil--hence the legends surrounding silver bullets killing werewolves and vampires.

Update on my progress.
Non-site wise, the weather outside is frightful. We've gotten freezing rain and sleet most of the evening so its pretty slick out there, and this is apparently only the beginning. Should make for some fun driving conditions this week. I just hope the weather doesn't worsen too much as I have a lot to do in the next two weeks (i.e. Christmas shopping).
Well I must be getting some sleep, so I'll leave you with something that should invoke the holiday spirit in all of you scrooges and grinches. No one does Christmas like Mr. Bean:

One More Day on Midway

Thai King
Today we went over to Eastern Island. The short-tailed albatross wasn't there today. It might be flying around somewhere looking for some food. We didn't get the calling station working today, so John will have to get that going when he gets back.
Here was the set-up for the Thai King's birthday at the All Hands Club.
It was another gray day today, but the water is still a nice color.

Cloudy Sunday
The albatrosses make their nests out of whatever they can reach from their egg. If they are on sand or gravel, that's all they get. We like the ones that live in the verbesina and pull it out for us. I wish they would walk around and do that.

New Albatross News
More Birds
Here's a good example of why we need to get rid of the verbesina. We mowed this area and sprayed it once to keep the sprouts down. We had to stop here because there were baby ducks in the vicinity and we had to give them a lot of space.
A Black-footed and Laysan albatross are sitting next to a memorial for the Japanese military men who died near Midway in WWII. I heard there was some controversy about honoring the enemy, but it got put up and it's small, out of the way, and only written in Japanese.

Rainy Wednesday
You can never have too much of Turtle Beach.
Yes, I still have a pulse.... and so does the Vault!
First off, the big news is that I'm now on Broadband! After years of suffering on dial-up, I've finally made the move and I'm never going back! I've already gone crazy, downloading multiple clips from YouTube and Newgrounds.com, and I've been downloading some extremely cool flicks for my perusing pleasure at sites like Bmovies.com, Bittorrent.com, and other similar websites! (I just finished watching a VHS-rip of "Damnation Alley" that I downloaded via bittorrent from THIS SITE. The "Tracker 3" website contains torrent files for hundreds of cinematic oddities. In fact, thanks to this site, I'll soon be watching "Star Crystal," "War Gods of the Deep," "Captain America 2: Death Too Soon," and "E.T. - THE PORNO!" No, I'm serious, the E.T. porno flick really does exist!)
In regards to the Vault, I've developed a new template for the reviews and have been slowly upgrading the current list of reviews in the archives to the new format. After that is done, I plan on giving the site an overhaul to match the reviews and Forum. This has already been a huge undertaking, but I feel that its time for a change at the Vault. I'm not setting any concrete dates for the "new look," but I'm hoping to get it done in time for Christmas. I guess we'll just have to wait and see on that.
Otherwise, things are going well lately. My bills are paid, my stress level at work has dropped to an acceptable level (Thanksgiving nearly killed me!), and my DVD buying habit has been stemmed for the time being, chiefly because Christmas will be here before we all know it. (However, this has not stopped me from getting the 8 disc GODZILLA COLLECTION DVD set from Classic Media, or HOT ROD, or the latest MST3K Boxed Set!)
Well I guess that about sums things up. I'm going to take care of a few things, and then I'm hitting the hay. In the meantime, check out some of the sites listed above (especially www.bmovies.com) and brace yourselves for the holiday Hell that will soon be upon us. Blog ya later b-movie fans! :-D

Turkey and Football
Our Thanksgiving dinner was great. Besides the turkey we had roast beef, ham, and shrimp. There were plenty of leftovers for later too.
This was the scene at Capt. Brooks' this morning. It was still dark outside.
We eat at the Clipper House. I showed it before but it was a while ago.
This was the setup today. Normally the tables are all separate but today it was one big one.

Happy Thanksgiving
Today was a good day of work. We got a lot of spraying done. We got off 2 hours early today as federal employees. It was fairly nice out today so Matt and I went swimming at cargo pier. There were lots of turtles over there today. I'm off now to go play volleyball.
A booby and a juvenile frigatebird are on the pier on Eastern Island. These two are like the sheep dog and the wolf on Bugs Bunny. The booby will go out and catch some food then the frigate bird will harass it until it gives up its lunch and will then steal it. Then they go back and sit together.

Getting Cooler
We banded a few more black-footed albatross today and marked a bunch more nests. At least the birds won't dehydrate so much with it cooler.
There wasn't much going on today so I'll just leave you with some more pictures from Eastern island.
The brown noddies are sitting on old seawall pieces.
A black-footed albatross taking off.
Short Week
Greg and I went out today to count black-footed albatross nests and to band any birds that needed it. There are quite a few with eggs so far so it took the whole afternoon to do that. We'll check again on Friday.
We had a little party tonight for Moo (from Thailand) since his wife had a baby today. It will still be a while before he can get back to see his new son, so I guess that's one of the downsides of being out here.
This is the gun over on Eastern Island.
I don't know what this meeting is about, but it looks important.

More Pictures
I think we're at about the maximum number of albatrosses about now. Some of the Laysan albatross are laying eggs already. The females go right out to sea to fatten up again and let the males take the first shift on the eggs. They'll switch off after the females get enough food.
There are thousands of birds on the parade field.
Here's a monk seal crashing the party on Turtle Beach.
Easy Saturday
Last night we got some Pizza Hut pizza on the plane so that was good. We reheated in the pizza oven at the All Hands Club. They're talking about making that a regular delivery now, which would be alright with me.

Friday
The plane is coming in this evening. It's a good thing they moved to night flights this week because there were thousands of albatrosses flying around today.
Here I am with some albatrosses on Eastern Island.
I found this glass fishing float on Eastern yesterday. It's about 6" long. Most of the floats are round so people usually like to find this style since they are more rare.

Tarot Readings Walk Fine Line Between Reality and Hoax
Tarot card readings walk fine line between reality and hoax
By Missy Smith
Ah, yes, if you want to see a picture of me (not my favorite one, I might add….lol), check out this article on my tarot readings at The Office in
David the photographer, and Missy, the reporter, were both very nice. And while I was not sure, by the headline, what the outcome of the story would be, I have to admit, I’m pretty happy with the ending.

Veteran's Day
I got to watch some football today. It wasn't a great game, but it's something I haven't seen for a while. I also took some time to write an article for the "Friends of Midway" newsletter about the turtle nest that hatched this fall. It wasn't really much more than I already wrote on my blog, but I think it's interesting news. If you want to review that again it was back on Oct. 5th, I think.
Here's the Veteran's Day flowers. The red flowers are Turk's cap, the yellow are hibiscus, and the pink one is a rose.
The wreath is at the left at our Midway Memorial (aka Gooney memorial).
